Nannie Lee Jay

Nannie Lee Jay, 89, of 406 Ivey St., passed away on Sunday evening, April 21, 2013, at Roxboro Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was the wife of the late Ira Jay and a member of Owen Grove Baptist Church in Cluster Springs, Va.

Nannie was employed for 26 years at Green’s Jewelers.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her “adopted” children, Trey Mangum of UNCChapel Hill and Clyde Jr. and Marie Mangum, Libby and Roger Carmichael and Shirley Nelson and James Sampson — all of Roxboro.

She is also survived by a devoted niece, Marion Lewis Moye of Washington, D.C.; a devoted great-niece, Peggy Hankins of South Boston, Va.; a devoted friend, Yvonne Outlaw of Roxboro and a host of other special nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hester- Whitted-Daye Funeral Service. The Rev. Dwight Wilkerson will be officiating with the Rev. John Leigh as the eulogist. Committal and interment will follow in the 0ld Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
