Ethel Griffin Glasscock Winstead

Ethel Griffin Glasscock Winstead, age 89, formerly of Virgilina, Va., died Friday morning, Nov. 1, 2013 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Winstead was a native of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, daughter of the late Charlie Gustadis and Sally Bett Tuck Griffin and wife of the late Morris “Pedro” Glasscock. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Christian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Carter, Brenda Stigall and husband, Kent, all of Roxboro; son, James Glasscock of Creedmore, brother, Bailey Griffin and wife, Ruth of Roxboro; five grandchildren, Angie Sidden, Christy Bouer, Shallon Lenfestey, Brock Stigall and Brian Carter, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Winstead is preceded in death by two brothers, Spencer and Filmore Griffin, granddaughter, Brandi Magin, a half brother, Russell Griffin, and two half sisters, Lillian Dunn and Eva Joyner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Union Christian Church by the Rev. Norman Talley. Interment will follow in the Glasscock Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at the church prior to the service and other times at the home of Betty Carter, 233 Montpelier Ave. Roxboro.
