William Dennis Carver

Born in 1930, William Dennis Carver passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Jean Carver; three children, Denise Clark and husband, Gary of Roxboro, Donna Carver and husband, David Close of Raleigh, and Michael Carver of Arlington, Va.; five grandchildren, Stuart and Heidi Clark, and Evan, Will and Crandall Close, his cat, “Beulah Mae,” two sisters and three brothers.

Dennis was well known and well liked throughout Person County having worked as a carrier for the Durham Morning Herald for many years.

In his later years, Dennis worked at Person County Memorial Hospital and continued to build meaningful relationships with county residents.

Dennis served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and as a war veteran, loved history and spent a lot of time reading and researching

U.S. and world history and his own family genealogy.

Dennis was well known for his many talents including gardening, bowling, crafts including making stained glass stepping stones and picture framing. His fabulous garden fed many of his neighbors and his framed art hangs in Person County’s businesses, museums and residences.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

A private memorial service for family and close friends is scheduled for a later time.
