On Tuesday, March 24, two teams from Roxboro Community School went to the Area 3 North Carolina Piedmont Envirothon at Elon University.

Envirothon is a competition, for both middle and high school students that tests students’ knowledge of the environment.

The testing categories are current environmental issues (CEI), wildlife, aquatics, forestry and soils.

Students were given a pretesting class to review the subjects that they were going to be tested on.

After lunch, students were ushered to classrooms to begin testing. They were given 30 minutes to complete each portion of the test.

After testing, they went to the auditorium and were given the results.

The Wildcats team (Eden Dunn, Anabelle Rolison, Allie Prignano, Dustin Humphries and Baylor Howerton) won best score in forestry and placed fourth in the competition. The Bulldogs team (Kenley Hazel, Calin Walker, Carter Hall and Jackson Woody) placed seventh in the competition. Both teams will go to the state competition and plan on entering again next year for the high school competition.
