Roxboro Community School’s (RCS) Raise the Roof construction of a gym and multipurpose area is progressing.

Steel beams have been brought in to support the ceiling, and walls have been knocked down to make more room. The water tower, with a design by senior Stephanie Devillier, is being refurbished by MWP and Dreamworks Motorsports.

Just over $1.5 million has been pledged in the capital campaign.

According to Managing Executive Director Natalie Brozy, the school appreciates the families and surrounding community for their support.

This is the final phase of renovation on the historic Roxboro Cotton Mill building.

The space will include a historical display, sponsored by Roxboro Savings Bank, showcasing the history of the school and mill.

Windows have been knocked out to allow for new glass and natural light in the multipurpose area. The multipurpose area will serve the school’s fine arts and physical education departments, and it’s championship volleyball and basketball teams.

According to Brozy, the area will be utilized by the community as well as the school.
