Grateful to Person County United Way

To the editor:

The Person County Arts Council (PCAC) would like to acknowledge and thank the Person County United Way (PCUW) for its continued support of Theater and Art Education in Person County.

The PCAC would also like to encourage our citizens to support the Person County United Way as the programs that PCUW supports are programs that this community relies on and may not be able to do what they do without that generous support.

Over this past fiscal year, Person County United Way provided support to several Person County Arts Council programs that benefitted the community.

These programs are the Storytelling Residency Program in the school system, our Youth Summer Theater Program and our free summer shows we do for kids on Fridays.

The Residency Program was conducted by Fred Motley and served 842 elementary school students this past fall.

The Youth Summer Theater Production of Shrek JR was our largest yet and it served 75 students and had many adult volunteers.

The summer shows for kids have served 582 participants and there are two more shows that are coming up this summer.

Theater and Art Education are essential to the mission of the Person County Arts Council.

Without the assistance of the Person County United Way, a large portion of the programs we offer would not be successful.
