The Person County Recreation, Arts and Parks Department is currently having registration for its youth volleyball camp June 20-24 at Person High School. Former Person High School player and current member of the William Peace University volleyball team Liana Solomon will be leading the camp this summer.

Solomon is also a coach for the Jammers club volleyball team based out of Durham. She will be teaching the participants the basic skills of volleyball, as well as many advanced techniques such as digging, spiking, setting, and serving.

The camp will be a broken up into three sessions. The first session will be a beginning skills session for youth 8-10 years old and will take place from 9-10:30 a.m.

The second session will last from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and will be for youth 11- 13 years old, followed by the advanced session for youth 14-17 years old. The third session will last from 1-3:30 p.m. Registration for the first two sessions is $35 and $45 for the third. The age cut-off is Jan. 1, 2017. Youth may move up in session with the approval of the camp staff. Signups are limited to the first 60 participants, with the deadline set for June 17.
