Karrie Holt Karrie Holt Karrie Holt, a fourth year student at North Carolina State University (NCSU), is at Roxboro Community School (RCS) as a student teacher. She was assigned to RCS through NCSU.

Holt, a resident of Bullock, wants to pursue a career in teaching high school animal science. Holt is currently student teaching under the supervision of Gina Lunsford, biotechnology teacher at RCS.

“I have been around horses and other livestock my entire life, and I feel like that really influenced my career choice.

“I started at NCSU as an animal science major with plans to go to vet school but I quickly realized that was not for me,” said Holt.

“I love agriculture, especially animal science, and I want to share my love for agriculture with younger generations,” she said.

“I think it is important for all young people to understand the impact agriculture has on them and their community, she added.”

Originally from Denver, N.C., Holt plans to stay in her home state to teach because she doesn’t believe that anywhere else could feel like home.
