Ethan Mitchell, a freshman at Roxboro Community School (RCS), has had a lifelong interest in wildlife. Currently, he is fundraising for the Conservator’s Center in Caswell County.

The Conservator’s Center is a n2on-profit organization that helps animals and also allows people the opportunity to learn about new animals and have a close experience with them. The center is home to bobcats, lemurs, lions, tigers, wolves, and more. Some of the animals were rescued from negligent circumstances or have been placed at the center as an alternative to euthanasia. Other animals were moved to the center because they needed a new living situation.

Mitchell had been interested in doing a fundraiser for the Conservator’s Center for about three months. Living 20 minutes from the center has given him opportunities to visit during his free time, which made his interest in wildlife grow.

“When I decided to do this fundraiser, I found their email online and emailed them with the idea asking permission,” Mitchell explained.

Once he received permission, he started planning and encouraged other volunteers to become involved.

On Feb. 11 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., there will be a pancake breakfast at the Prospect Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Planning the fundraiser for the center took two months and a lot of help, Mitchell said. Mitchell also said that his dedicated volunteers were going to make the fundraiser great.

The 14-year-old wants a career involving animals. His plan is to go to college and become a wildlife biologist and work on research to save endangered species.

Mitchell already has a YouTube channel, “Ethan Mitchell’s Wildlife,” where he frequently posts videos.

Mitchell’s activities in his free time, other than his YouTube channel, also involve animals. He takes care of his leopard gecko and hermit crabs. He also enjoys fishing.

The Prospect Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. is located at 11621 NC Highway 86 South, 11621 NC-86, Prospect Hill, NC 27314.

The Conservator’s Center is located at 676 E Hughes Mill Rd, Burlington, NC 27217.
