Domestic brawl brings charges

A fight between a Roxboro man and his girlfriend ended with charges against the boyfriend after he allegedly tried to strangle her and then kicked her as she tried to get away.

Glenn Thomas Shelton, 35, of 2253 Hester Store Road, Roxboro, was charged March 7 with one count of assault on a female. He was held in the Person County Jail without bond.

According to incident reports, Shelton and his girlfriend got into an argument about her decision to leave the house the previous Saturday. She told deputies she later learned that Shelton had burned a pair of her flip-flops and she called him a name. He retaliated by punching her in the face before he began choking her while she was sitting in a recliner.

The chair flipped over, spilling them both onto the floor and when the victim tried to get away, Shelton allegedly kicked her.

She was finally able to escape the house and run away from Shelton.

Weapon charges filed

A Timberlake man is in the Person County Jail after he admitted to officers that he had pointed a gun at his wife.

According to incident reports, Adam Western, 38, of 935 Tom Oakley Road, was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.

According to reports, deputies received a call from the couple’s counselor who said he had not heard from Western’s wife for seven hours after meeting with them and learning that the wife planned to leave the husband because he had pointed the gun at her.

Deputies found Western at the house, where he admitted to having pointed the gun at his wife.

Thieves steal jewelry

The break-in of a Timberlake home netted thieves quite a haul.

The victim told Person County Sheriff ’s deputies she had returned home to discover the back door of her home standing open.

After deputies arrived and checked the property for intruders, the victim discovered jewelry and other accessories valued at more than $5,600 had been stolen.
