Larry Darnell Lester


Mr. Larry Darnell “Whosey” Lester, age 62, of 206 Hicks Circle, departed this life Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in UNC Hospitals-Chapel Hill.
He was a native of     Person County and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his mother, Nannie Lester of Roxboro;  one daughter, Jennifer Bowman of Roxboro;  two sisters, Jennifer Yvette Lester and Gloria Lester Raynor, both of Roxboro; one brother,  Maxie Leondus Lester of Yonkers, New York; 11 uncles and aunts, Mable Lester and Corine Lester, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ann Snipes, Frank Lester, Melvin Lester (Peggie), Nannie Smith, Dwight Lester (Mary), Larry W. Lester, Jerry Williams (Catherine) and Mattie Banks (Melvin), all of Roxboro and Barry Williams (Cynthia) of Semora; three grandchildren; a special cousin, Marshina Ragland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home in Roxboro. Burial with military rites will follow in  the Lester Family Cemetery, 924 Jones Lester Rd., Roxboro,NC 27574. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 1 to 6 p.m. with the family present the last hour from 5 to 6 p.m.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his sister at 1214 Meadow Wood Court, Roxboro, NC 27573.
The body will lie in state in the chapel for one hour prior to the service.
Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Directors are in charge of the service of comfort for Mr. Larry Darnell “Whosey” Lester.
