P.E. honors course offers optimum training
Person High School offers physical education honors, a high level fitness class where students lift weights, run, crossfit and metcons, which is metabolic conditioning.
PHS physical education teacher Don Donevan said, “I have lifted weights for more than 30 years, including power lifting, high intensity training, and crossfit training. I have taught physical education honors and trained professional athletes, as well as others simply seeking to improve their fitness, for more than 25 years.”
Physical education honors teachers seek students who are highly motivated with a desire to improve their overall fitness level or increase their endurance for a particular sport.
Those who take the course should expect to work hard, and if they follow instructions they will see results.
They will become stronger, improving their overall fitness level. They will likely gain confidence in knowing they are becoming more physically fit.
Senior and a PHS football player Chanston Cobbs said, “I was not able to lift as much as much as I am in this class since the 10th grade.”
