Students, staff raise $3,000 for Stop Hunger Now

Photo by Delaney Sullivan Photo by Delaney Sullivan Stacey Whitlow, RCS English teacher and Bulldogs Care coordinator, led a campaign that raised $3,000 for Stop Hunger Now, a Rise Against Hunger program. One thousand dollars came from grant donors that chose to donate to Whitlow’s Stop Hunger Now event and the remaining funds came from teachers and students collecting money through a coin drive and selling popcorn, candies, and sodas. Five RCS classes helped package meals to send across the world to aid areas dealing with hunger. Other activities that filled the final Bulldogs Care Day of the 2016-2017 school year consisted of students cutting materials to be sent to Sole Hope, a shoe-making organization based in Uganda; cleaning up veterans’ yards throughout the community; cleaning up nature trails at the Sportsplex and Mayo Park, and classes reading to elementary schools in Person County.
