Milton Earth Day Celebration to be held April 22

Identifying Thomas Day furniture workshop to be held May 8

Milton’s Preservation and Beautification Society, Inc. will host Milton’s Earth Day Celebration 2017, on Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown historic Milton.

Events include a Community Yard Sale, High Street Baptist Church Fish Fry, and The Milton Woman’s Club Bake Sale, plus the Thomas Day House will be open for tours.

Thomas Day House/ Union Tavern Restoration, Inc. will host a workshop “How to Identify Thomas Day Furniture.” The workshop will be held Saturday, May 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Thomas Day House, 148 Broad St. in downtown historic Milton.

The workshop is limited to 30 participants on a “first come/ first serve basis.”

The last day to register is Monday, May 8. The donation fee is $25.

This workshop will deal with the techniques and processing of furniture making.

The host will be Jerome Bias, furniture maker, historic interpreter and one of the most knowledgeable in the field.

Attendees will have a better understanding of how to attribute furniture to Thomas Day’s shop.

There will be ample time for questions and hands-on activities with a notebook to be given to all attendees.
