RCS has largest YLA contingent in state

Roxboro Community School (RCS) had the largest representation of any school in the state at the 47th Session of the North Carolina Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) March 31-April 2. RCS boasted one tri-speaker, six committee co-chairs, two clerks, 12 delegates, and two sergeants-at-arms. YLA is a mock legislative session where high school students voice their opinions and vote on issues concerning local, state and national government. The three-day session is patterned after the North Carolina General Assembly. At the conclusion of YLA, a final report is drafted and distributed to the governor and legislators. The conference allows high school students an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the workings of local, state, and national government.
