Thornburg commits to play volleyball with High Point

Mackenzi Thornburg Mackenzi Thornburg Mackenzi Thornburg, a junior at Roxboro Community School, (RCS) has committed to play volleyball for High Point University after high school.

When asked about the commitment, Thornburg said, “I’m really excited about this. Not only did I commit because of volleyball, but for the academics and campus too.”

RCS volleyball coach Meagan Kimbrough said she was thrilled “as a coach and a member of the Bulldog community that such an amazing athlete and leader is getting the opportunity to showcase her skills at the collegiate level.”

Kimbrough added, “Mackenzi is an amazing role model for players. She works so hard to reach all her goals, and I am excited for her senior season.

“High Point is gaining a tremendous athlete and an even better leader,” Kimbrough said.

Teammate Kailey Oakley said about Thornburg, “She’s a strong leader who is always motivated. She’s the best setter I’ve played with. I’m happy for her.”
