High School Virtual Enterprise students attended the Youth Business Summit in New York City on April 3 - 6, hosted by the National Virtual Enterprise office,

Virtual Enterprise teacher Tara Hubbard said the summit “allowed 4,300 students from over 40 countries to come together to create and sell a virtual product at an international trade fair.

During the trade fair, student teams set up booths to sell virtual products to other students.

The student teams were Rock Solid and Personian.

Rock Solid sold virtual recreational gear and Personian sold virtual tracking devices.

Senior Meghan McCowan said, “I definitely recommend the Virtual Enterprise class to other PHS students. It is not like other classes. Students learn a lot of business skills.”

McCowan earned a gold rating in salesmanship.

Junior Cristina Roberts said, “The trip was really fun.

“We got to experience many things. My favorite part of the trip was the trade fair because I was able to speak to different people,” said Roberts.

While in New York, PHS students had the opportunity to visit Times Square, the Empire State Building, Herald Square, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, Chinatown, Rockefeller Center, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Central Park and bus tours.

The Person High School CTE program funded transportation for the Virtual Enterprise trip, but students were responsible for all other trip costs.
