Choral dept. sponsors variety show

The Person High School choral department hosted a variety show on April 25 at the Kirby Theater.

The event showcased local community talent and through donations made by those in attendance, raised $150 for new chorus uniforms. No entrance fee was charged.

There were 40 acts, 18 were PHS students.

PHS senior Kailey Bishop hosted the show.

Performances included Indiya Pettiford singing “I Love You, I Do” by Jennifer Hudson; Charles Brown and Joshua Harris singing “Ordinary People” by John Legend; Marshae Bowie singing “ Stay” by Zedd and Alessia Cara; and Payton Moore and Maddie Scott signing “For Good” from the musical, “Wicked.”

Other PHS students performing in the event were Kamaya Winstead, Ruth Sidney, Marlisha Smith, Davian Street, Breonna Downey, Ginger Allen, Tori Henderson, Lisa Hunt, Ariana Chambers, Cody Gammon, Tameia Smith, Morgan Burgess, Maddie Scott, Willard MckIver, Kara Presslar, Alicia Paylor, Lanisha Thorpe, Abigail Wood and Grant Krueger.

PHS chorus teacher Brittany Booth said, “The Rocket Variety Show was a huge success. Students performed well, and it was such a pleasure to see the community come together to support local talent. I am proud of those who performed, and grateful for all the support we received from PHS faculty and staff throughout the process.”
