PHS Hosts Girls’ Summit

By Keriston Stephens

On Saturday, April 29, Person High School (PHS) hosted a Girls’ Summit from noon to 4 pm. The summit was organized by PHS clubs Adorabella and Interact, with the hope of empowering young ladies. The summit theme was “I am.”

Naturally Fashionable blogger and North Carolina educator Kim Postell was the keynote speaker for the event.

A meal was provided before participants moved into breakout sessions that included information on healthy relationships, college prep, mind and body health, entrepreneurship, and makeup application.

The healthy relationships session encouraged the participants to get to know each other better and build rapport.

The college prep session taught participants about the application process and how to find a college that is the best fit for their career goals.

Entrepreneurship helped participants understand how they can make an impact in the business world.

The mind, body and health and makeup sessions offered a fun way for participants to receive helpful tips on how to take care of themselves.

Adorebella advisor Cortney Barnes said, “Adorebella is all about sisterhood, and I thought why not have a day for all the girls to get together to grow and bond with peers.”

PHS freshman and Adorabella member Courtney Paylor said, “It was very inspiring and empowering. It was a successful event.”
