On March 31, eight Hispanic students from Person High School, along with the English as a second language (ESL) teacher, Tania Vives, participated in the Hispanic Summit event at North Carolina State University. The summit provided Hispanic students the opportunity to listen to guest speakers who shared stories about how they overcame difficulties faced as minority students.

College advisors from several schools were available to speak to students about college scholarships, career paths, and other educational opportunities available to them.

Senior Jaime Ceballos, said the summit “can be a great experience for those who feel left out or want to be involved in something.

“The trip gave us a different perspective. Even though we are a minority, we can still make it in the world.”
