The Women’s Ministry of YOUNG’S CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 284 Young’s Chapel Church Rd., will sponsor a Rainbow Tea on Saturday, June 3 at 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and fellowship and wear colors of the rainbow.

Lawon Chapel Baptist church will celebrate Dr. Langston D. Logan Sr.’s pastoral anniersary with a weekend of services. On Saturday, May 27, a musical program is scheduled for 4 p.m. Several choirs and groups will be rendering the music. On Sunday, May 28, the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service will be the Rev. Theodore McMickle from Raleigh, along with his Praise Team. Music will be rendered by the Lawson Chapel Male Chorus. Dinner will be served following the morning service in the fellowship hall. All are invited to attend these services.

Mill Hill Baptist Church will celebrate the 140th church anniversary on Sunday, May 28 with a morning and an afternoon service. The morning service will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the old sanctuary with an opening song, scripture and prayer. After which the congregation will assemble in front of the church for the re-dedication of the church bell which has been part of the church for over 100 years. After the re-dedication service of the bell, the congregation will return to the old sanctuary to continue with the morning services, which will be conducted by Pastor Frederick Wilson. The Mill Hill Gospel Choir will provide the music. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m. The second service will begin at 3 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Rufus Johnson, pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills. He will be accompanied by his choir and church family. Everyone is invited to attend.

Concord United Methodist Church will hold a special community Lakeside Worship Service at Hyco Lake on Sunday, June 11 at 10 a.m. The service will be held at the ReMax office, at 70 Phifer Lane, Semora. Come by boat or land. There will be music, food and fellowship. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. The service is open to all.

The 20th “The 100 Men March” will be held Sunday, May 28 at 4 p.m. at Vernon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Oxord. The Rev. James E. Wade invites all men to come out and be part of “The 100 Men March.” The Rev. Marcellus Mack of Halifax, Virginia will be the guest speaker. concert

The Boyd Family Gospel Group will share their testimony through music this Sunday, May 28 at the 11 a.m. service at Longhurst United Methodist Church, 265 Providence Road. Everyone is invited and dress is casual. The time of music will be followed by a covered dish lunch. Anyone wanting more information, can call the church at 599-6812.

A musical program will be held Saturday, June 3 at 5 p.m. at Oxford - Speak Life Church, 305 Williamsboro St., Oxford. Groups appearing include The New Stars of Faith of Durham, Converted of Oxford, The Loving Sisters of Roxboro, Shirley McCaden of Oxford and All God’s Children of Roxboro. A comunity Dinner will be held at New Brook United Methodist Church, 265 Old Durham Rd., on Tuesday, May 30 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Eat in or takeout is available. Chef Norm’s menu is oven roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes, black-eyed peas, cheese biscuits, homemade desserts and drinks. All donations/proceeds will benefit My Life Matters.

The 13th annual Relay for Life Car Show will be held May 27 at Old Lea Bethel Baptist Church, 6035 Ridgeville Road, Leasburg, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include gospel singing, auction, door prizes, cash prizes and games for all to enjoy. Food will also be available. There will be special awards, plus the Top 15 People Choice Award. The car show will benefit the Caswell County Relay for Life.


Vacation Bible school “Galactic Starveyors” will be held June 11 through June 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Somerset Baptist Church, 141 Somerset Church Rd. There will be classes for two year olds through youth. For more information, call the church at 336- 599-5345.


Elijah Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Alfred M. Faulkner, pastor, presents Comunity Empowerment Day on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Elijah Grove, 11469 Virgilina Rd. Cooking for Diabetics will be presented by chef Larry Gilbert, personal chef. The event is free and open to the public.
