Mozelle Brown Cagle

ROUGEMONT — Mozelle Brown Cagle, 93, of Rougemont, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at her home.  
She was the daughter of the late Robert Lester Brown and Annie Hassell Cole Brown.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, Erskine Brown, Gaddis Brown, Ernest Brown, Mae Lorene Brown, Griffin Brown, Mabeline Brown Ray, and Knette Brown.
Mozelle grew up on the family farm in Caldwell.  She attended and graduated from Caldwell School in 1942, and went back for an additional year before she began working for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company where she worked for 44 years.  She met and married her husband of 50 years, Hubert E. Cagle, while working in Durham.  He passed away in 1997.
She remarried in 1999 to Calvin Hunt who passed away in 2002.  
Her passions were cooking, flower gardening, her yard, and her weekly trip to the beauty shop.  She and Hubert also made annual fishing trips to Topsail Beach with his sisters and their husbands for many years.  
She was an active member of Berry’s Grove Baptist Church until her health began to decline earlier this year.  
She is survived by her son, Rick Cagle (Pam) of Rougemont; daughter, Tina Cagle of Morrisville; three grandchildren, Whitney Edwards, Tiffany Cagle (Ricardo Maldonado-Garcia) and Jeffrey Cagle; two great-grandchildren, Aaron Edwards and Bryant Hartman; one brother, Billy Brown of Rougemont; and one sister, Kathleen Daniels of Hillsborough.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at Berry’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Willingham officiating.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
