UNDEAD UPTOWN

Uptown Roxboro looked a little less alive on Thursday as local residents donned costumes and face paint for the annual Zombie Walk.

Around 30 people gathered at Merritt Commons to shuffle, stumble and stroll down Main Street, which had been blocked off by local police for the walk. Duane Butner, aka “Ghostbuster Duane,” led the way in his Ecto-1 vehicle, playing Halloween music through the stereo to accompany the crowd.

Youth Services Librarian Amanda Weaver and the library’s Assistant Director Kate Millard got the undead ready for the procession in the library’s foyer, painting faces and applying fake blood. Though the turnout was smaller than last year’s, Weaver said that everyone who participated was excited to keep the tradition alive.
