Canterbury House hosts ‘Family and Friends Day’

Activities began with an opening prayer from the Rev. Eugene Lee.

Mistress of ceremonies Ollie Jeffers welcomed approximately 200 family, friends and guests to the event. Guest speakers were Person County Sheriff ’s Sgt. Dustin Harris and Sgt. Ryne Ford with the Roxboro Police Department.

Volunteers included members of the Roxboro Police Department, the Person County Sheriff ’s Department, MADD, Bayada, Caswell House, Avon, Kool Treats and Kreative Designs. Music was provided by IIIrd Tyme Out.

Keeping beat to the music was the Lock Lilly Meadow Lark Cloggers along with the Compassionate Ministries praise team dancers.

There were horse and buggy rides provided by Jim Winstead and the new MADD police car was also on display.

Guests and residents enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue and fish with all the trimmings, prepared by the Canterbury kitchen staff and Judy Vaughan, with Lambert Scott and Tony Cunningham on the grill.
