William John McCain

Mr. William John McCain, age 70, of 715 Ivey Day Road, departed this life in his home on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. He was a native of Alabama, a member of the Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Mae H. McCain of the home; one son, Shaun Jonathan McCain of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two daughters, Sarah Darlene Shaw of Garner and Gerri Shaw of Patterson, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Marcus Moore and Charles Majette of New Jersey and Kayla Ebron; three great-grandchildren;  10 siblings, Jimmy McCain (Kate), Joel McCain (Edna Faye), Robbie Nix, Sherman Burns (Debra), Mildred McCain, Virgil Burns, Gloria Faye, Andrew Heard (Dorothy Mae) and Angelia Whitley, all of Alabama and Ruth House (Terry); and a host of other additional relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Greater Clegg’s Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church, 2601 Surl-Mt. Tirzah Road, Timberlake, NC 27583 with the Rev. Louis E. Cash, pastor, officiating and providing the eulogy. Burial with military rites will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home.

The body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the service.

Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Directors are in charge of the service of comfort for Mr. William John McCain.
