Martha Wehrenberg Brandon

Martha Wehrenberg Brandon, age 96, formerly of 76 Old US 501, died Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh.

Mrs. Brandon was born Nov. 25, 1921 in Randolph County, daughter of the late Edward Ludwig & Catherine Schonwald Wehrenberg and was wife of 63 years to the late William Thomas Brandon.  She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. after more than 30 years of service and was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Carolyn W. Lester of Cary, Wilhelmina W. “Mina” Witherspoon of Omaha, Nebraska, a host of nieces, nephews, and all of the Bethel Hill community children that considered her Aunt Martha. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brandon is preceded in death by a sister, Elisa W. Forbes and a half brother, John Herman Wehrenberg. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with the Dr. Jeanine Driscoll officiating.   Interment will follow in the Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services. 

Pallbearers will be Lynn Brandon, Terry Mayhew, David Wehrenberg, John Wehrenberg, Samuel Wehrenberg, and George Woody.  Jerry Brandon and Randy Brandon will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 422 N. Main St., Roxboro, NC 27573 or Bethel Hill Baptist Church, 201 Old US 501 Hwy 27574.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ann, Marie, and Sam for all of their love and care while taking care of Martha.
