John Willard Shotwell

John Willard “J.W.” Shotwell, age 76, died Monday, April 9, 2018 surrounding by loved ones. He was born in Person County, to the late Melvin Willard and Fannie Shotwell. He is survived by his wife, Marva Jo Shotwell, of 50 years, one son, Chris Shotwell and wife, Crystal and one grandchild, Rachel Shotwell.

J.W. graduated from Roxboro High School in 1960. He served in the National Guard from 1963-1969. J.W. was proud to serve as a deputy for Person County and was a truck driver for Pepsi Cola. He then owned Shotwell’s Wrecker Service, where he did automotive painting and body work until he retired. J.W. loved animals and had a special love for his yorkies, Bella and Fatboy.

J.W. owned a white ‘56 Ford Truck called the “Ghost” and he loved attending antique car shows and displaying his truck. He loved people and never met a stranger. J.W. was proud to be an American and he loved his country.

Memorial service will be held at the 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Richard Long officiating, to celebrate the life of John “J.W.” Shotwell. The family will receive visitors before and after the service at the home of Marva Jo Shotwell.
