Marlis Elaine Pearce Amato

TIMBERLAKE —  Marlis Elaine Pearce Amato, 63, of 6927 Oxford Road, Timberlake, died Monday, April 9, 2018 at her home. Born in Ontario, New York, she was the daughter of the late James Pearce and Zerlina Weicenthal Pearce.

Mrs. Amato was the founder and president of the Empire Egyptians, which started 25 years ago. Her family moved to Person County where the business has been located for the last 15 years. Marlis loved her husband, children, grandchildren and horses.

Survivors are his husband, Michael Thomas Amato, Jr. of the home; three children, Ashley Amato of Apex, Jillian Amato Whitlow and husband, Paul Whitlow, Jr. of Timberlake, Michael Thomas Amato III and wife, Carey of Knightdale; three brothers, Fredrick Pearce, Thomas Pearce and Timothy Pearce; one sister, Cathy Pearce; six grandchildren:,Tyler, Lucas, Madelyn, Gianna, Ainslee and Téa.

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Brooks & White Chapel. Visitation will follow immediately after the service at the Empire Egyptians Farm (6929 Oxford Road, Timberlake, NC 27583).
