Rockets down undefeated Bucs, drop two in conference

The Person High School softball team lost a pair of conference games this week, but upended previously unbeaten Bartlett Yancey, 5-2, Thursday on the road.

The Rockets fell to Eastern Alamance 11-1 Tuesday in Mebane and lost to Western Alamance 13-6 Friday at home.

Person is now 4-11 overall,

2-8 in the Mid-State Conference with four games remaining in the regular season.

Kaity Sullivan had an RBI in Tuesday’s game, while Taylor Sullivan and Payten Pearsall had the team’s lone hits.

The Rockets had one of their best performances of the year in handing Bartlett Yancey its first loss of the season.

Kaity Sullivan went the distance, giving up two earned runs on five hits, while striking out 12.

The senior also came through at the dish, with a homer and two RBIs. Pearsall also belted a home run and drove in two.

Kailee Clayton finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Nia Thomas delivered a pair of hits. Anna Harris, Gaby Jones and Kamryn Cunningham also delivered base hits. Person will be back in action Tuesday when it travels to Mid-State co-leader Northern Guilford. Game time is 6 p.m.
