Kay Walker Russell

FOXFIRE VILLAGE — Kay Walker Russell, 77 years young, passed away on April 18, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  Born on January 18, 1941 in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Archibald James Walker and Mary Ellen Wood Walker.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry, and a sister, Rose.

Kay attended East Carolina University.  Kay had an extensive career as an administrative assistant and travel coordinator for Cato Research (Research Triangle Park, NC).  Kay enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with the Garden Club members.  She and Don also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.

Kay is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Ray Russell, and sons Bryce (Cary) and Craig (Greensboro).  She is survived by grandchildren Frank, Nick, Zachary and Paige Russell and Brandon and Jessica Russell.  Also surviving one sister, Peggy Loyd and husband Greg of Gainesville, Georgia.  Brother-in-law Jimmy and wife Brenda Russell of Greenville and sister-in-law Sheila and husband Dane Clark.  There are numerous nieces and nephews who also survive.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Pinehurst with the Rev. Kevin Garner officiating.
