Roy Acre Pettiford

TIMBERLAKE — Mr. Roy Acre Pettiford, age 70, of 662 Dick Holeman Road, Timberlake, departed this life on Friday, April 27, 2018 in Duke Regional Hospital in Durham following a brief illness. He was a native of Person County and a member of Lawson Chapel Baptist Church. He received his primary and secondary education in the Person County School System and later attended Durham Technical College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Computer Programming. He was employed by IBM Corporation and retired from there after 30 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Shamita J. Royster (Brooks) and La’Teeya Johnson, both of Durham; two sons, Bryan D. Pettiford of Durham and Kevin L. Pettiford (Adrianne) of Charlotte; five sisters, Catherine P. Holloway (Bobby), Mary P. Jones (Steve) and Rev. Elizabeth P. McCoy, Omega P. Armstrong of Durham and Shelby McCoy-Pettiford; two brothers, George Pettiford (Flossie) and Randolph Pettiford; three grandsons, Jalen Jackson, De’Shone Hicks and William Pettiford; special god daughter, Zari Shields Mangena; and a host of other additional relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Lawson Chapel Baptist Church, 200 Lawson Chapel Church Road, Roxboro, NC 27574 with the Rev. Dr. Langston D. Logan, Sr., pastor, providing the eulogy. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday at 12: p.m., one hour prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Directors are in charge of the service of comfort for Mr. Roy Acre Pettiford.
