MORGAN WINSTEAD | BULLHORN Roxboro Community School middle school guidance counselor Suzy Horton spoke with eighth graders recently, offering tips to reduce the stress associated with End-of-Grade testing. MORGAN WINSTEAD | BULLHORN It’s that time of year again, when end of grade testing (EOG) is coming up and kids are getting stressed.

Roxboro Community School (RCS) middle school guidance counselor Suzy Horton talked to all eighth graders about tips for EOGs.

Some tips that she gave to help calm stress were to practice deep breathing, spend time with pets, talk to someone, get physical exercise, listen to and/or play music, meditation/guided imagery, drawing, journaling, reading, napping, church, and watching movies.

Before EOG’s, she said, students need to make sure to get a good night’s sleep, proper nutrition, and stay hydrated.

Proctors are needed for this year’s EOG and EOC exams. They will be on May 22, 23 and 24. Anyone interested in proctoring should contact Jodi DeVillier, RCS Testing Coordinator, at 336.597.0020, ext. 322 to volunteer.
