Senior Center announces availability of ‘Operation Fan Heat Relief’

The Person County Senior Center will give away a limited number of box fans to eligible seniors beginning Thursday, June 14, as part of its Operation Fan Relief program.

To be eligible, the recipient must be a Person County resident, age 60 or older or have a disability, live in a home situation where a threat to health and well-being exists, and cannot have received a fan through the program last year. There is a limit of one fan per household.

For those meeting the criteria, fans may be picked up at the Person County Senior Center at 87 Semora Road beginning June 14 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Fans will be given away while supplies last.

The fans are made available through contributions from Dominion Resources, Duke Energy, and Valassis Giving Committee, through the N.C. Division of Aging and Adult Services.
