Carrie Lee Powell Shotwell

Carrie Lee Powell Shotwell, 87, died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Hock Family Pavilion.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Elwood Shotwell, Sr.  She is survived by her three children, Mae Lee Brizendine of Hillsborough, William Elwood Shotwell, Jr., of Roxboro and aula Schenck, of Earlysville, Virginia; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She is also survived by her brother, George Powell, of Roxboro and two sisters, Betty Smith of Liberty and Faye Pope, of Cedar Grove.

She worked at Collins & Aikman and TG&Y and sold World Book Encyclopedias.  She and her huband were avid square dancers and for many years were members of the Person Square Dancing Club and the Camping Squares Camping Club.

She was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church for many years, singing in the choir, serving on the Kitchen Committee, and working with the Youth group.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Providence Baptist Church, 1319 Virgilina Rd., Roxboro with burial following the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the Providence Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
