Pickin’ by the Lake, hosted by Piedmont Community College’s Alumni Partnership will be held Sept. 8 from 1-9 p.m. at Mayo Lake Amphitheater, located at 1013 Neal’s Store Rd., Roxboro.

The event offers an afternoon and evening of fun with six bands for just $30. Children 12 and under are free.

The festival schedule is as follows:

Drive Time – 1 p.m.

Charlie Oakley & Blazin Grass – 2 p.m.

Salt and Light – 3 p.m.

Flatt Lonesome – 4 p.m.

The Malpass Brothers – 5:30 p.m.

Lonesome River Band – 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at Piedmont Community College at 1715 College Dr., Roxboro; at Ronnie’s Appliance at 2406 Durham Rd., Roxboro; or at www.piedmontcc.edu/pickin through Sept. 6.

This is the sixth bluegrass festival to support student scholarships at PCC.

Each year, funds raised are awarded to recent high school graduates from Person and Caswell counties in the form of scholarships. In addition, the New Beginnings Scholarship was created to support students returning to school after being away from the classroom for several years.
