Special classes offered by PCC

Piedmont Community College will offer three special classes for the fall semester.

The classes will include instruction on defensive driving, nurses aide training and online computer training.

PCC will offer the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving course in September. Qualified drivers may earn the opportunity to receive a reduction on a traffic infraction by completing this course. Upon completing the four-hour class, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.

The defensive driving course will be held 6-10 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at PCC’s Caswell County Campus, 331 Piedmont Drive, Yanceyville.

The course costs $99. Registration and payment of the fee is required prior to the class date to reserve space in the class. To register, call 336- 599-0032. PCC will also offer Nurse Aide I training on the Caswell County Campus 2-5 p.m., Monday to Thursday, Sept. 10 to Dec. 6.

Instruction provided in Nurse Aide I training will prepare students to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Competency Test for placement on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. Successful completion of the training and competency test will enable students to seek employment in the healthcare industry as a Certified Nurse Aide I. Register on the Caswell or Person County campus or online at www.piedmontcc.edu/NA. A textbook is required and is available for purchase from the college bookstore. You must bring current results from a tuberculosis (TB) skin test on the first day of class. The class registration fee is $188 and upon the successful completion of the course, a competency test fee of $101 is payable to the testing agency. For further information or to register, call the Workforce Development Team in Caswell County at 336-694-8064, or in Person County at 336-322-2156. Deadline to register is Thursday, Sept. 6. Prior to starting each class, an eBook or textbook, which includes the eLab, is required (available for purchase at www.lablearning.com). The registration fee is $70 plus the required eBook or textbook. The registration fee should be paid prior to the start of class on Sept. 11. To register, call 336- 599-0032 before Sept. 4.
