Domestic dispute brings charges

A Roxboro man was jailed Friday night after he was charged with assault on a female and breaking and entering.

Scotty M. Pleasants, 36, of 49 Lee Chambers Road, told Person County Sheriff ’s deputies the victim had been at his home, but left to return home. The victim’s son called him to say that the woman had passed out on the living room floor and he needed help getting her up.

According to reports, Pleasants went to the house and helped put the woman to bed. At that point, he said, she woke up and started arguing with him and began choking him around the neck.

Pleasant allegedly pushed the victim causing her to knock over a glass fixture that cut her foot, reports indicated. According to reports Pleasants left the house, but returned later, kicked in the door, hit the victim again and left.

He was held in the Person County jail without bond.

MONEY STOLEN FROM SAFE

A Roxboro-area man told deputies someone stole $2,600 in cash from a safe in his home.

According to reports, the victim’s sister told the victim that a man who had been living in the house recently, had been back in the house for a short time Thursday morning before leaving.

The victim discovered the money missing later that night.

According to reports the safe had not been broken into, and the victim believes the suspect must have figured out the combination to the safe.
