Wallace M. Blalock

ROUGEMONT — Wallace M. Blalock, age 87, son of the late Albert and Macie Lunsford Blalock, died on Oct. 7, 2018 at the Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion after a brief illness. He was predeceased by an infant son, two brothers, Albert, Jr. and Ozie Blalock, and two sisters, Marie Bowen and Anna Walker. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty A. Blalock; two sons, Alan M. Blalock and Philip A. Blalock and wife Jill; two grandchildren, Isabella Grace and Matthew Charles Blalock; brother Coy B. Blalock and wife Frances; sister Patricia Clayton and husband Manfred, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful dog Sampson.

He was a retired supervisor from Wright Machinery/ Sperry/ Honeywell Corp, and built the prototype motor which controlled the arm on the space ship Columbia. He was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving as deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. After retiring he managed the family business Triangle Farm and Home for 15 years.

Services will be held on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 11, with visitation at 5 p.m. and Memorial Services at 6 p.m. at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church 1655 Mt. Harmony Church Rd. Rougemont, NC 27572. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to North Carolina Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief fund.
