Copeland Qwinn Garrett

It is with sadness that the family of Copeland Qwinn Garrett, 28, announces his passing on February 8, 2020. His family and close friends traveled to the hospital near West Palm Beach where he lived to be with him until the end.
A native of Person County, Copeland was preceded in death by his loving mother Kathy Patterson Garrett, and brother Matthew Hunter Garrett. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Emma Katherine Garrett, age 5 of Yanceyville. He was proud of her from the day she was born. In addition, he leaves behind his parents, Dr. Stephen and Mrs. Carla Garrett of Roxboro; his sister, Jillian Garrett Parks (Hunter) of Wilson; his brother, Caleb Hillman Garrett of Seattle, Wash.; and his stepsister, Katie Ann Oakley of Boone. Copeland also leaves behind two nieces, Kayleigh Parks and Annastyn Parks, as well as a number of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. In particular, his aunt, Bonnie Perkins, filled a void for him after the loss of his mother.
Steve and Kathy were blessed with this baby boy born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1991. His heart defect at birth resulted in a lengthy hospital stay so that his first day home was not until New Year’s Day. What a celebration!
Copeland was an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the UNC Tarheels. He particularly enjoyed following Carolina basketball and football. In addition, he loved being near the water, playing basketball, cooking, and eating all his favorite foods, especially Bojangles. His good looks and charm left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was full of energy, famously mischievous, and his fearless approach to life was evident to all.
He was a graduate of Person High School and a member of Providence Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Savior. His work most recently included employment with property management companies.
