Council imposes state of emergency, curfew


The Roxboro City Council unanimously voted to enter a state of emergency and impose a curfew at a called meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The state of emergency will include a curfew for the Uptown area bounded by  Morehead Street to the north, Foushee Street to the east, Barden Street to the south and Madison Boulevard to the west and any other property owned or leased by the City or County governments within the city limits.

The curfew will last from 5 p.m Tuesday until 6 a.m Wednesday and 7 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday.

Council cited an imminent threat of widespread damage, injury or loss of life and property.
