Now under new ownership, the former Innkeeper has been rebranded as a Quality Inn as of Monday.
The Quality Inn is now under the ownership of Roxboro Hospitality, LLC led by Biran Patel in partnership with his four uncles. Patel will serve as the Director of Operations over the hotel.
The rebranding opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the partnership of Quality Inn with the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Merilyn Newell opened the ceremony by describing the change as a “rebranding of an institution.”
“This was one of our first larger hotels that opened here in Roxboro many years ago,” Newell said. “To see it rebranded and coming to life in a new form is very, very exciting.”
Margaret McMann, Person County Tourism Development Authority executive director, said the addition of the Quality Inn will be great for the county and said that the young blood and ideas that Patel brings will add to the tourism experience in Person County.
Patel said there will be more changes to come.
“Threre are a lot more to come, but I think this will be the first step to a new franchise in Roxboro that will be good for the community and good for everyone,” Patel said.
Patel said he looks forward to the community partnerships that will come with the new franchise in the city.
Patel and his partners purchased the Innkeeper at the end of June.
Patel said there have been several upgrades required by Choice Hotels as a part of the Quality Inn branding, but Roxboro Hospitality will be going above and beyond the requirements with upgrades that will be forthcoming.
The purchase of the Innkeeper presented an “unbelievable opportunity,” Patel said.
“We found a business that was ideal for our situation,” he said. “It was a conversion property. We could enhance it and grow the business and we could give back and work with the community.”
Patel said the addition of a Quality Inn will create a mid-tier accommodation that previously was not present in Roxboro.
The Quality Inn is Patel’s first foray into the hotel world, but not a first for his partners.
“They are in vastly different businesses and expertises, so their experience and guidance is unbelievable and priceless,” he said.
Patel said he has learned quickly that it takes time to build a quality, polished product in the hotel industry and that Roxboro Hospitality is working slowly and diligently to build that product in Roxboro.
