Jesse “Buddy” Lamberth Zimmerman Jr., 88, of Roxboro, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 14, 2020. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Jesse Lamberth Zimmerman Sr. and Ursula Thomas Carter Zimmerman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ellie Hollifield Zimmerman; brothers, Bernice and Bobby Zimmerman; and son-in-law, Freddie Haney.
Mr. Zimmerman was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Cone Mills Corporation after 30 years of employment. Buddy loved listening to bluegrass music, going to festivals and playing the Dobro. He also loved spending time with his family and gardening.
Surviving are his children: Phillip Zimmerman (Donna) of Keeling, Va., Jan Z. Haney of Bryson City, Bert Zimmerman of Roxboro and April Z. Cobb (Rodney Preddy) of Roxboro; five brothers, Owen, James, Pete, Henry and Jerry Zimmerman; four sisters, Dorothy Bradsher, DeLayne Bowes, Faye Gainey and Betty Jean Overby; six grandchildren, Austin Zimmerman Sr., Tyler Zimmerman, Kayla Zimmerman, Mason Cobb, Caton Cobb and Emmey Cobb; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Zimmerman, Austin Zimmerman Jr., Ava Zimmerman and one on the way.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Clement Baptist Church Cemetery with his nephew, the Rev. Tim Bowes officiating.
Due to the Executive Order regarding the COVID-19, the attendance will be limited to 50 people.
