The Wellness Committee of Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, located at 1111 Oak Grove-Mount Zion Church Road, Roxboro, will host a workshop entitled “Healthy Living in Order to Serve God” at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. The workshop will be led by Minister Marie Okafor. A light meal will be served following the workshop.

Lawson Chapel Baptist Church

The Womens’ Day service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22. The speaker will be the Rev. Melcinda Yancey White, of Oak Grove Baptist church, in Durham. The church is located at 200 Lawson Chapel Church Road, Roxboro.

New Ephesus Baptist Church

New Ephesus Baptist Church will celebrate its 147th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, with Dr. Alfred Faulkner speaking. Lunch will be served between the morning worship and the afternoon service. The church is located at 375 Ephesus Church Road, Semora.

Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church

First lady Carolyn Wilson, along with her church family of Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will sponsor a program entitled “100 Women in Red” at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22. The guest speaker is Minister Alfredia Bennett, of Vance Street Baptist Church of Danville, Va. The church is located at 1635 Mill Hill Road, Roxboro.

First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, located at 14 Main Circle, Roxboro, will hold its fall revival starting at 4 p.m. Sunday Sept. 22, with Pastor Dorwin Howard, of First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church, Raleigh, serving as guest speaker. Services Monday, Sept. 23 – Thursday, Sept. 26, will begin at 7 p.m., with the following guest speakers, respectively: Minister Michelle Bumpass, of Greater Joy Baptist Church, Oxford; Pastor Clyde Glass, Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Roxboro; Pastor Marvin Jones, Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Roxboro; and Pastor Glenn Faulkner, White Oak Fork Baptist Church, Virgilina, Va.

Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church

Cedar Grove Missionary Church, located at 1851 Cedar Grove Church Road, Roxboro, will celebrate the first anniversary of the Rev. Marvin Jones, Sr.’s pastoral service at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. The speaker for the morning service will be the Rev. Vernon Thompson, Associate Minister of New Hope Person. Dinner will be served after the morning service. The speaker for the afternoon service will be the Rev. Ronald Booker, Pastor of Jones Chapel Baptist Church.

Greater Covenant Church

The Greater Covenant Church will observe its pre-anniversary service at 11 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 22. The guest speaker will be Bishop Darnell Leach, pastor of Shiloh Abundant Life Church, in Forestville, Md. Also, at 4 p.m., the male chorus will celebrate its anniversary. Refreshments will be served. The church is located at 334, Industrial Drive, Roxboro.

Lawson Chapel Baptist Church

Lawson Chapel Baptist Church, located at 200 Lawson Chapel Church Road, Roxboro, will hold its fall revival at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25. The Rev. Allen Smith, of First Baptist Church in South Boston, Va., will be the guest speaker.

St. Mary & Edward Catholic Church

St. Mary & Edward Catholic Church will sponsor a craft fair from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5. Crafts, paintings, foods, and cakes will be available for purchase. The church is located at 611 N. Main St., Roxboro.

Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church

Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church will hold a stew and BBQ sale Saturday, Oct. 19. Cost of stew will be $8 per quart and BBQ $8 per pound. The church will also sell baked goods. The church is located at 1511 Wesleyan Road, Roxboro. Call 336-504-1786 to place orders.

Old Lea Bethel Baptist Church

Old Lea Bethel Baptist Church, located at 6035 Ridgeville Road, Leasburg, will observe its 80th anniversary at 11 a.m., Oct.20, with a special service, followed by a covered dish luncheon.

Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church

Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, at 515 Raleigh St., Oxford, is sponsoring a “Community Day Service” on Saturday, Sept. 21, and church dedication service on Sunday, Sept. 22. Saturday’s events will be from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., and will feature a Health & Wellness Fair, food, games and more. The Sunday dedication service will be at 4 p.m., with guest speaker Pastor Ronnie Morton of Greater Joy Baptist Church.

Vernon Hill Baptist Church

The Vernon Hill Baptist Church Missionaries will have its annual candlelight march at 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22. The guest speaker will be Minister Carolyn Banks. The church is located at 80 Vernon Hill Church Road, Oxford.

Community Night of Prayer

There will be a Community Night of Prayer at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, for the city of Oxford and surrounding areas, at the back lot of The Empower Center at 216 MLK Jr. Blvd., Oxford. Free hotdogs and drinks will be served, sponsored by Women United.

Fall Revival

Annual city-wide fall revival services will be held at the Mary E. Shaw Memorial Center, 205 Lanier St., Oxford, at 7 p.m. nightly from Monday, Sept. 30 – Fri., Oct. 4.

Sharon Baptist Church

Sharon Baptist Church, 6746 Goshen Road, Oxford, is hosting a fall trip to The Ark Encounter, Creation Museum, Amish Country in Lancaster, Pa., Sight and Sound Theater, and the Bible Museum in Washington, DC. on Sept. 30 – Oct. 4.
