For the second time in three days, the Person County Health Department is reporting additional cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Sunday morning, public health officials reported two more cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Person County to six.
The increase in cases and the increase in the rate at which cases are being reported mirrors the trend seen elsewhere in the state and nation.
Person County Public Health Director Janet Clayton, in a press release issued this morning, said the best way to prevent the spread of the illness remains staying at home, isolated from other people.
She also noted the Centers for Disease Control's Friday recommendation to begin wearing facemasks when they are out in public and that people take care to disinfect places that are frequently touched, like tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, toilets, faucets, sinks, and electronics.
