Purnell brothers hoping for another big night at OCS

Posted

Orange County Speedway will back in action tonight with a full schedule of events.

Two of the competitors that will be racing are brother Austin and Corey Purnell from Yanceyville. These two had quite a night on July 27 as they took home three first-place trophies. Corey won in the Smokey Dave’s BBQ Mod 4 and The Walker Auctions Vintage Sportsman. In that Vintage Sportsman race, Corey possibly made the move of the year as passed both Chris Mincey and Eddie Gilbert on the last lap to take the win.

Austin held off the veteran Richard Hayden to take the win in The Choice Automotive Charger Division.

Now the question is can they do it again?

The day’s events start at 1 p.m. with the annual Family Fun Day with lots of vendors, food and music.

The grandstand gates and ticket office opens at 5 p.m. with qualifying is set to start at 5:40 p.m.

During the pre-race activities, after qualifying, the Kids Ride Along program will take place.

The green flag is scheduled to wave to start the first racing event at 7 p.m.

All divisions will be in action with the Late Model, the Winstead Farms Pure Stock, the Smokey Dave’s BBQ Mod 4, the Choice Automotive Chargers, the Walker Auctions Vintage Sportsman and making their first appearance at OCS in 2019 will be the Southern Outlaw U Car League.
