A Durham man and a Bahama man were charged for stealing from Dollar General, 8530 Durham Road, Timberlake, Thursday evening.
Jay Poole, 39, of 10077 Rougemont Road, Bahama, was charged with one count of shoplifting and concealment of goods.
Mark Holder, 47, of 4016 Casa St., Durham, was charged with one count of shoplifting and concealment of goods and one count of possession of stolen goods.
The victim told the responding Person County Sheriff’s deputy that a male wearing a blue shirt ran out the store with laundry detergent and headed south on foot on Durham Road.
The male was later identified as Poole.
Person County Sheriff’s deputy located Poole and Holder walking near Chamber Loop Road and Durham Road.
Poole told the deputies that he had stole two bottles of Gain laundry detergent and gave it to an unidentified person who Poole says “he only got a ride from.”
According to the report, Holder purchased some items from the store but also stole Dove’s body wash and soap.
Both men returned the stolen merchandise except the laundry detergent and were released until their court date.
Resisting arrest and public intoxication
Thursday night Person County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a person who had stolen some beer earlier from Sheetz, 925 N. Madison Blvd., and brought it back to the store.
Upon arrival, the deputies spotted Donald Burch, 59, 2220 Oxford Road, hiding behind a truck.
According to the report, when deputies approached Burch, he got defensive.
Deputies could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Burch and attributed his behavior to his state.
Deputies arrested Burch and charged him with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer and public intoxication.
He is being held in the Person County Jail under $2,000 bond.
According to the Roxboro Police Department, neighbors reportedly observed a man exposing himself near Ivey Street Sunday evening.
Rudolph Thompson, 53, 304 Lamberth St., was charged with indecent exposure.
He is held in the Person County Jail under $30,000 bond.
Larceny at Walmart
Saturday afternoon Walmart Loss Prevention allegedly observed James Newton, 60, 2731 Halifax Road, remove a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones from the manufacturer’s package.
According to the Roxboro Police Department, the packaging contained an anti-theft device.
Newton was charged with one count of felony tampering of an anti-theft device and one count of misdemeanor larceny.
He is held in the Person County Jail under $500 bond.
Traffic stop leads to gun charge
Sunday morning a Person County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a Durham man for speeding near the intersection of Durham Road and Crown Boulevard and found a weapon in the vehicle.
After a search of the vehicle, the deputy found a Glock pistol with an extended magazine.
Nicholas Allen, 20, of 1205 N. Hyde Park Ave., Durham, was charged with one count of carrying a concealed pistol or gun.
He was issued a citation for carrying a concealed handgun and a warning for speeding.
