Winstead to be ordained


Elijah Grove Baptist Church will hold an ordination service under the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Dr. Alfred M. Faulkner, at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11 during which Carl L. Winstead will be ordained as a minister.

Winstead is the son of the late Henry and Mabel Winstead. He was educated in the Person County schools and at Piedmont Community College. He also attended several business seminars related to his employment.

He has been employed in the automotive textiles field for 32 years. He is currently employed with Southern States of Roxboro and serves as petroleum supervisor for the surrounding counties.

As a member of Elijah Grove Baptist Church, he serves on the Deacon board, in the Men’s Fellowship Choir and the Men’s Christian Fellowship. He is also a former Sunday School and vacation Bible school teacher.

In the community, he is affiliated with Battle Ax Lodge No. 120 and Herbert Shaw Consistory No. 337. In his spare time he loves to play golf and bowl.

He is married to Queen Bailey Winstead and they are the parents of two children, Dedre and Jay. They have two grandchildren, Dedre and Lauren.
