Allen Leon Brandon, 27, of South Boston, Va., was taken into custody by the Roxboro Police Department last Thursday on a variety of charges.
According to a news release from South Boston Police Chief Bryan Young, Brandon’s string of activity began around 4:30 a.m. Dec. 31 when he was believed to be involved in the theft of a landscaping truck. That vehicle was later found wrecked on Highway 119 near the North Carolina state line.
According to reporting from the South Boston Gazette-Virginian, Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark said Brandon is suspected of stealing a four-wheeler around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Clark told The Gazette-Virginian deputies tracked the suspect “for a good while” but he was not captured.
Around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Brandon was suspected of stealing a Chevrolet truck from the Sutphin Road area of South Boston which was later found in Person County.
According to the Person County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon wrecked another car he stole on Boston Road Thursday morning.
After being transported to the hospital, he escaped and stole another car.
During the ensuing chase, Brandon wrecked a deputy and then wrecked off of South Main Street near Hurdle Mills Road.
Due to the location, South Elementary and Southern Middle School were placed on a soft lockdown and an increased number of officers were present at the schools.
Authorities searched for Brandon for several hours, the Roxboro Police Department located him on South Street shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday.
Chief David Hess confirmed the Roxboro Police Department took Brandon into custody last Thursday and said he was cooperative with officers.
Allen’s charges include a fugitive from justice warrant for which he is held without bond.
Other charges include two counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony fleeing to elude arrest, assault with a deadly weapon, driving while license revoked, hit and run, speeding, careless and reckless driving and failure to stop at a red light.
For those charges, Brandon was placed under a $1 million bond.
