Robert Thomas Melton

Robert Thomas Melton, 93, of 151 Robert Melton Rd., Hurdle Mills, died Thursday, April 13, 2023.  Born in Person County, Mr. Melton was son of the late Arthur Thomas and Irma Gentry Melton and husband of the late Betty Duncan Melton.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Alma M. Campbell and his brother, Frank Melton. Mr. Melton retired from Collins & Aikman and had previously served in the National Guard. He was the oldest member of Clement Baptist Church, having served as a deacon along with various other committees. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid Carolina fan. As an avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed bird hunting.

Mr. Melton is survived by his children, Sheila M. White and husband Cecil, Sherwood Melton and wife Cindy and Wayne Little; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and three nieces.
