Roxboro Community School’s girls’ soccer team dominated Excelsior Classical Academy 9-0 on Monday as the Bulldogs celebrated senior night and then cruised past Henderson Collegiate, 16-0, Tuesday for the 100th win of head coach Tim Ess’s career.  

Southern Middle School’s softball team celebrated the contributions of eighth-graders Tyler Massey, Bridget Curran and Makayla Walker before their final home game against Gravelly Hill Tuesday, May 5. 

Northern Middle School’s girls’ soccer team celebrated its eighth-graders and sent them out on a high note with a 3-2 win over crosstown rival Southern Thursday, May 4. 

Southern Middle School’s boys and girls track and field teams earned wins over Northern to close out the regular season Wednesday, May 3. The SMS boys won 75-24 and the girls earned an 88-4 victory. 

The Person High School baseball season came to an end with a 7-0 loss to Lee County Tuesday on the road in the opening round of the 3A state playoffs.

The Southern Middle School boys’ track and field team came away with a dominant 77-23 road win over Orange to move to 5-0 Wednesday, April 19. Southern’s girls’ team improved to 4-1 with a 53-47 win.

The Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department will be offering registration for 2023 soccer camps May 1 through June 21. The camps will focus on the fundamentals of soccer, including but not limited to passing, receiving, shooting, dribbling, and goalkeeping. 

Person High School sophomore Trevquan Gary provided the highlight of the track and field meet at Orange Thursday, April 20 by setting a new school discus record.
